Harry Kane has dropped a number of hints that he is keen to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and move to a club where he can compete for the biggest honours in the club game this summer.
The 27-year-old had a lengthy chat with Gary Neville about his future and admitted he wants to win trophies as well as continue to break individual records.
Kane picked up his third Premier League Golden Boot following his trike against Leicester City and collected the top playmaker award as well for finishing top of the assists chart. But once again a season has ended and Tottenham do not have any silverware to show for their efforts.
If Kane does get the move he has hinted at there will be a number of winners and losers and we at football.london have gone through who is set to come out of the transfer saga on top and who misses out.
Winners
Manchester City
Whoever signs Kane from Spurs will be the biggest winner of all. They will have added one of the world's best players to their ranks, a goalscorer with few rivals in the game, and a model professional.
Kane is a guarantee of goals, his record speaks for itself. He has a tally of 166 Premier League goals in just 244 appearances.
He is currently seventh in the all-time list and if he were to repeat his haul of 23 goals next season he would move into third place behind just Wayne Rooney and Alan Shearer.
It seems that only injury or a move away from England can stop Kane from reeling Shearer in and getting past his total of 260 in the Premier League.
Troy Parrott
Kane's departure from Spurs would leave a gaping hole in the team and a striker would need to either be signed or promoted into his place.
Parrott has yet to be given a run in the Spurs side and has spent the majority of this season out on loan at Millwall and Ipswich Town.
The Irish international has only managed two goals in 29 matches on loan but if he were to impress in pre-season the teenager could find himself thrust into the limelight and given the opportunity to step into Kane's boots and see if he can hack it in the Premier League.
Dane Scarlett
Scarlett is in a similar boat to Parrott and in some respective Carlos Vinicius in regard to lack of opportunities to impress.
If Kane is fit, he starts for Spurs meaning very little football for anyone else wanting to play upfront for Tottenham.
Scarlett is just 17-years-old but was handed his senior debut this season by former manager Jose Mourinho and the teenager went onto make three first-team appearances including a Premier League debut in February against West Bromwich Albion.
The striker is highly regarded at Spurs and despite his tender years has been trusted with game time in Europe and domestically.
If Kane were to take his leave of the club Scarlett would have an opportunity to step up and although it is unlikely he would be a regular Premier League striker he will get more minutes than he has this season and could hope to lead the line in the Europa Conference League
Daniel Levy
On the face of it losing Kane would be a huge blow to Tottenham and to their chairman Daniel Levy. Losing one of the best strikers the club has ever had, a youth team product, and fan favourite is not a good look for the chairman.
However, if Levy can agree a fee north of £150million the chairman may feel he has come out of the deal on top. Fans would hope the money is reinvested into the team to rejuvenate a squad that has looked tired and in need of freshening up.
Alternatively, Levy could use the money to allay some of the club's financial issues brought about by the cost of the new stadium and the revenue lost during the coronavirus pandemic.
This would not be a popular move with the fans but Levy has shown with his support of the Super League proposals that the fans feelings are not foremost in his mind.
Losers
Tottenham Hotspur Football Club
To see a player of Kane's quality depart the club would be heartbreaking for many Spurs supporters.
Saying goodbye over the years to the likes of Kyle Walker, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick, Teddy Sheringham, Sol Campbell, Jurgen Klinsmann, and others who all went onto win multiple trophies elsewhere, was hard. But having to see arguably the greatest ever product of the Tottenham youth set-up would be agony.
Kane is second only to the legendary Jimmy Greaves when it comes to the all-time top Spurs goalscorers. If he were to remain at the club it is almost inconceivable that he would not break Greaves' record.
To let a talent like Kane, and a Spurs fan to boot depart the club is akin to gross negligence from the chairman. The fact that Spurs were in the Champions League final just two years ago and not able to build on that success is poor to lose the star player would be almost unforgivable.
Spurs fans
The fans would lose out on the chance to watch one of their favourite son's play, they would not even have had the chance for a proper good bye and to show their appreciation for all he has done at the club.
The loss of the team's talisman and his goals would not only affect Tottenham's results but is sure to further alienate a large section of the fanbase who are already disillusioned with the club for their role in The Super League debacle.
Kane's teammates
As argued above Scarlett and Parrott may benefit in minutes from Kane's departure but the counterargument is that they would lose out on a mentor.
It is often said that Phil Foden has learnt his trade from the likes of David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne whilst improving his finishing alongside Sergio Aguero.
Scarlett and Parrott would be missing out on training with and picking the brains of Kane on a daily basis were he to leave the club.
Even senior players such as Son Heung-min would lose a player who pushed them in training to improve every day, not to mention the end of a fantastic on-field partnership.
Kane's departure from Spurs would be a huge blow to both the club and the supporters. It is now over to Daniel Levy to see if he can do anything to keep his star at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
