The January transfer window could be crucial for Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham.
Spurs are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table just under a third of the way through the season.
Qualifying for the Champions League again looks a long way off and Pochettino has something of a rescue job on his hands, not just to save the season, but potentially his future at the club too.
For the first time in three windows Tottenham actually made moves in the transfer market in the summer, bringing in Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon.
But it was not enough from Pochettino's point of view and the main bone of contention appears to be that he has been left with players who do not have a future at the club.
Many are running down contracts, while many were tipped to leave in the summer, but did not go anywhere.
