Tottenham Hostpur Stadium transformed into hospital unit and coronavirus test centre during pandemic

Tottenham's stadium will be used as a hospital unit for expecting mothers during the coronavirus pandemic.

The state-of-the-art facility has been repurposed to house the North Middlesex Hospital’s Women’s Outpatient Services, freeing up space at the hospital to treat those suffering with Covid-19.

It will also help keep pregnant women away from the hospital during the pandemic.

The away dressing room has been turned into a midwives clinical room and staff admin office, while interview rooms typically used for post-match broadcast duties have been turned into scanning and consultation rooms.

The media centre will serve as a main reception, with the NFL away room transformed into a temporary maternal day unit.

Spurs also announced equipment has now been installed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so it can "operate drive-through Covid-19 testing and swabbing for NHS staff, families and their dependents".

A statement on the club website said: "We are committed to playing our part to ensure the best possible outcomes for our communities during these unprecedented times.

"Stay home. Stay safe. Protect the NHS."
