Tottenham have Premier League title advantage with run of home games, says Harry Kane

Harry Kane believes Tottenham have an advantage in the title race because they have started the season with so many away games.

Spurs played three of their first four matches on the road after reversing a fixture with Watford to give them more time to finish their new stadium — which has since been delayed until next year.

The 2-1 defeat at Vicarage Road remains their only dropped points away, with six victories from their other games on the road, including Saturday’s 3-2 win at Wolves. But Spurs have played just four times at their temporary home Wembley this season, while Manchester City and Chelsea have played six home games and Liverpool have had five fixtures at Anfield.

Kane says Spurs can recover ground on the League’s early pace setters when they play three home games in a row against Newcastle, Watford and Leicester from late January, when the club hope to have finally moved into their new home.

“It is open at the top,” said Kane, who scored against Wolves.

Meanwhile, a Uefa pitch expert was due to inspect the Wembley surface this afternoon before Spurs meet PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday.

When Spurs played City last Monday, the pitch was in poor condition, and covered in NFL markings after a game there 24 hours earlier.
