Tottenham have Lautaro Martinez deal in place as Davinson Sanchez opens up on Harry Kane

Here are your Tottenham morning headlines on Wednesday, August 18.

Lautaro Martinez deal in the pipeline

Journalist Dean Jones believes Tottenham have a deal in place to sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez should England captain Harry Kane leave the club for Manchester City this summer.

football.london revealed recently that Spurs had a fee of over €60million (£51.2million) agreed with the Serie A side for Martinez, but that was before Inter sold Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea for a club record £97.5million.

Kane has been the subject of intense speculation this summer with Pep Guardiola's club the prime candidates hoping to entice the 28-year-old away from north London.

"I do wonder if that is all ready to go if Kane goes," Jones said.

"The more this drags on, the more I'm thinking Tottenham have got a deal in place here to sign Martinez if Kane goes.

"They've been an admirer of him for two or three years, and the plan leading into this was always that 'if Kane goes we're going to get Martinez' - that's what I've always been told."

Davinson Sanchez opens up on Harry Kane

Davinson Sanchez says the Tottenham players are on Harry Kane's side whatever decision is made about his future.

Sanchez, who was in top form against City on Sunday, believes Kane is the best around.

"Harry is the best No.9 in the world. There’s no doubt about it. If someone says differently they just do not understand about football," he said.

"I'm his team mate so I can't get deep on the situation because it’s a situation that it’s being discussed between Harry and the people above. We are just here to support him and if something happens then we are always going to be on his side.

"If he has the chance to be with us on the pitch then of course he’s going to help us, there’s no doubt about it.

"Everybody here knows just how professional he is and no-one can have any doubts about how good he is as a player, how good he is as a person and his professionalism, as I say."

Nuno Espirito Santo makes Tanguy Ndombele decision

Tanguy Ndombele has not been included in Tottenham's Europa Conference League squad for Thursday's game against Pacos de Ferreira.

Ndombele, who recently became a father for the first time, missed out on selection in all five of the team's pre-season friendlies, however.

Espirito Santo did reveal after the 1-0 friendly win over Arsenal that his player is not injured but "it is not yet the moment" for him to be part of the game.

Spurs squad for both legs of their European tie does appear on UEFA's website but there is no place for Ndombele or Serge Aurier, who were both at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday to support their teammates.
