Tottenham goalkeeper Isak Solberg confirms he has signed first professional contract with club

Isak Solberg has signed his first professional contract with Tottenham.

Solberg joined the club from Bryne last summer having been invited to two trials with Tottenham's U18s and U16s during the six months before that.

At the time, it was reported that Solberg had signed a three-year contract which will see him be part of the academy set-up for the first two years and then in the final year turn professional and get a wage increase.

However, taking to Instagram on Monday night, the Norway youth international confirmed he has signed his first ever professional contract with the club.

Homegrown Harry Kane is the ‘special one’ for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham

He wrote: “Absolutely thrilled to sign my first professional contract with @spursoffical. A big thank you to my family, my friends and everyone who has been there for me.”

He has so far been part of Tottenham's academy and has played for the U18 team.

Speaking last summer, Bryne general manager Asle Tjotta stated that the club was not entitled to a transfer fee for the player as he had no official contract with the team and is the son of the club's former goalkeeper coach, Thomas Solberg.

However, Tjotta has now admitted that Bryne would be left with some compensation for the teenager, adding: "Tottenham have been very good."

Spurs will now be hoping the teenage keeper continues to catch the eye of academy head John McDermott and eventually first team goalkeeper coach Nuno Santos over the coming years.
