Tottenham fullback Serge Aurier attracting interest as Hojbjerg prediction comes true

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Monday, July 12.

Thomas Frank's Hojbjerg advice

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has revealed that he told Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg he would benefit in a deeper role, having played as a no. 10 during their time together with the Denmark youth side.

"I coached Hojbjerg for three years in the Danish youth teams", Frank told The Telegraph.

"I said to him, when he was in the under-17 national team, that he could be a world-class holding midfielder. Back then he was more of an advanced midfielder, often playing as a No 10.

"On the ball, his technical ability is extremely strong: he has a great first touch and a wide passing range. He is a very good passer, and he protects the ball well."

Brutal Winks verdict

Former Aston Villa and England frontman Gabriel Agbonlahor has delivered a damning verdict on Harry Winks amid Villa's reported interest.

Talking to Football Insider, the former striker said: “Winks would be a great signing but I wouldn’t pick Winks before McGinn, Luiz or Nakamba.

“Just because he’s a good player it doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed to get into the team.

“Maybe as a player who can push McGinn and Luiz then he’s definitely worth bringing in. But he wouldn’t come in and be a guaranteed starter.”

football.london understands that the midfielder is currently happy to stay with Spurs heading into the new season but the club would consider a sale if a realistic amount is offered.

Milan's Aurier interest

AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli is interested in a move for Tottenham right-back Serge Arurier if the Italian cannot land Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot or Alvaro Odriozola this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The report claims that the Rossoneri's director Frederic Massara is a huge admirer of the Ivorian and even attempted to sign him last season.

Given Aurier has just one year left on his current deal, Spurs are likely to accept any decent bid that comes in this summer.
