Tottenham forward Heung-min Son back for Newcastle clash as Dele Alli faces late fitness test

Tottenham will be boosted by the return of Heung-min Son for their home game against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Son is set to feature for the first time this season having served out a three-game ban that was carried over from the last campaign.

The South Korea international, who scored an impressive 20 goals in 2018-19, was sent off during the 1-0 loss at Bournemouth in May following a clash with Jefferson Lerma.

It meant he missed the final league game at home to Everton three months ago, as well as the opening two matches this term against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Midfielder Dele Alli is facing a late fitness test to see if he is ready to play following a hamstring injury.

Alli sustained the problem in pre-season and has also sat out the first two fixtures.

Coach Mauricio Pochettino admitted he won’t take any risks with the England international, who has suffered four hamstring injuries in the past two years.

Ryan Sessegnon is unlikely to be in contention to make his debut following a £25million move from Fulham due to a hamstring issue of his own. Defender Juan Foyth (ankle) is still out.
