Tottenham first-team players' transfer fates reveal Fabio Paratici's major call over six exits

Tottenham fans will be hoping Fabio Paratici is rather busy in the transfer market in January as he looks to help take the team to the next level. Very active in the market in the summer as he added some much-needed depth to the ranks, now it is about adding some more quality to the starting XI.

Making two pivotal signings in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski at the start of 2022, Paratici will expected to do the same this time around. January is certainly not a time for wholesale changes but it does give the club's managing director of football a chance to bring in a couple of fresh faces and potentially move a handful on.

So who could possibly make way at the start of 2023? Here football.london takes a look at the transfer status of the Tottenham players with just under six weeks to go before the transfer market reopens for business.

Goalkeepers

Hugo Lloris

The Frenchman started the season well but he produced a few shaky performances ahead of the World Cup starting. It's a simple choice when it comes to Lloris' future, but Spurs really do need to start looking for a long-term replacement. KEEP

Fraser Forster

The summer signing has only made one appearance for the club so far but more opportunities could come his way depending on who Spurs come up against in the FA Cup. A good deputy to have for Lloris. KEEP

Brandon Austin

Austin will have picked up plenty of experience working alongside Lloris and Forster but he would certainly benefit from a loan spell elsewhere so he can feature regularly. However, that may be one for the summer rather than at the turn of the year. KEEP

Defenders

Matt Doherty

Opportunities have been few and far between for the Republic of Ireland international with Emerson Royal often preferred to him at right wing-back. Doherty faces a big second part of the season as he looks to regain his place in the team and also keep himself in the plans for 2023/24. KEEP

Emerson Royal

Emerson's form has been incredibly mixed at right wing-back with some poor showings coming after decent performances. The Brazilian has shown his defensive qualities on occasions against the top teams but it's in the final third where he unfortunately lets himself down as he struggles with his attacking play.

Certainly a position Tottenham need to upgrade sooner rather than later, Paratici should consider potential offers for the player, whether that be in January or the summer, if a top replacement can be found. CONSIDER POTENTIAL OFFERS

Djed Spence

Spence has cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines this term with a total of 26 minutes coming his way across four appearances. Despite the struggles of both Emerson and Doherty, Antonio Conte has resisted the temptation of throwing the summer signing into the team despite the clamour from fans.

Desperately needing the pitch time after his woes in N17 so far, a loan deal would be best for both parties. LOAN

Davinson Sanchez

Starting the season strongly when he was in the team, the Colombian was far from his best when handed starts in the Leicester City and Bournemouth games and it resulted in early exits for the player. Linked with a move away from Spurs in the past, Sanchez is perhaps someone Paratici and the club should consider parting with if good offers are on the table and they can bring in a suitable replacement for him. CONSIDER POTENTIAL OFFERS

Eric Dier

Dier may have made a couple of mistakes of late but he has been a mainstay at the back for Conte's Tottenham team. Even if Spurs do look to upgrade across the backline over the next few transfer markets, Dier should still remain at the club as he is a good player to have in the squad due to his experience and defensive qualities. KEEP

Cristian Romero

Tottenham haven't seen the best of Romero this season after such a strong first campaign for the club. Hopefully he will be able to recapture his best form after the World Cup as injury issues have resulted in a stop-start term for him so far. KEEP

Ben Davies

A regular at left centre-back last campaign, the arrival of Clement Lenglet on loan has seen the Welshman rotate with the Barcelona man so far in 2022/23. Davies may not got the praise he deserves for his performances but you cannot deny that he is having a good season. KEEP

Japhet Tanganga

Tanganga missed out on an exit towards the end of the summer transfer window with Tottenham unable to bring in another defender. Playing one game for the Lilywhites since then, the ex-England U21 man needs a loan move to get his career back on track after missing so much football through injury in recent seasons. LOAN

Clement Lenglet

Lenglet has been a shrewd acquisition from the club and performed well on the left of the back three and also in the central role when he has played there. Tottenham have a decision to make over him come the summer as they will need to add to their backline. KEEP

Ivan Perisic

Perisic has also had a big impact on the team since joining in the summer from Inter Milan on a free transfer. His experienced has proved vital at times, as has his quality from set pieces which has resulted in him registering seven assists. KEEP

Ryan Sessegnon

Regular game time has come Sessegnon's way this season despite the arrival of Perisic. Starting the season well but struggling prior to the break in play, the ex-Fulham man needs to get back to his previous levels once football resumes and try to add to his assists. KEEP

Midfielders

Oliver Skipp

Game time has been hard to come by for the England U21 international with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bentancur in outstanding form. He is still a good deputy to have for the duo, though, and hopefully an increase in minutes will come his way in 2023. KEEP

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Hojbjerg has received the plaudits he fully deserves after an incredible start to the campaign which has seen him chip in with important goals and assists. Why would you even consider selling him?! KEEP

Rodrigo Bentancur

Paratici really did pull off one of the great transfer bargains at the end of January after signing Bentancur from Juventus. Playing a pivotal role in helping the team finish in the top four last campaign, the Uruguayan has netted some crucial goals over the past month to really help the team out. KEEP

Yves Bissouma

Bissouma's start to life at Tottenham may not have gone to plan but his form has been getting better. He really could do with a big second half of the season but nudging ahead of Hojbjerg and Bentancur is going to be very hard indeed. KEEP

Pape Matar Sarr

Remaining at Tottenham in the summer instead of heading out on loan again, Spurs need to find the perfect club for the Senegal international at the turn of the year. He just needs to be playing football at his age to help aid his development. LOAN

Harvey White

White is another who really needs a loan but that will all depend on what happens with Sarr at the start of next year. Tottenham cannot afford to let both leave on temporary deals as they need a fifth midfield option just in case injury strikes. KEEP UNLESS SARR STAYS

Attackers

Son Heung-min

The Premier League's top scorer last season, Son has only scored in two games this term and has looked a shadow of his former self. The goals will come though and they could prove crucial to Tottenham's aspirations in the second part of the campaign. KEEP

Richarlison

Signed in a big-money move from Everton in the summer, Richarlison has yet to score in the Premier League but he did net two crucial goals in Europe. Missing six games through a calf injury recently, the Brazilian will be looking to really make his mark at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium once the World Cup is over. KEEP

Harry Kane

While the goals may have dried up for Son, Kane has been in good form in front of goal and contributed with 13 from 22 games in all competitions so far. Soon set to enter the final 18 months of his deal, Paratici and Co need to sort out a new contract to tie him down for the long-term. NEW CONTRACT

Bryan Gil

Bryan has looked bright in his cameo appearances when he has played for Tottenham but he really needs to be playing more to boost his game. Expected to return to Valencia on loan in the summer before a move didn't go through, Spurs need to find the right club for him in January as minutes here and there are just no good for him. LOAN

Lucas Moura

Injury has limited Lucas' pitch time this season and he has had to settle for minutes off the bench when he has played. He may be down the pecking order but he can still contribute for the team before a final decision is made over his future in the summer. KEEP

Dejan Kulusevski

Kulusevski just makes Tottenham tick, which has been highlighted on more than one occasion following his return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines. It's a no-brainer when it comes to a permanent move for Kulusevski as he is still on an 18-month loan from Juventus. KEEP
