Almost 100 firefighters were battling this morning to extinguish a warehouse blaze on White Hart Lane in north London.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Tottenham at around 3.30am

Football fans have been reassured that today’s game between Spurs and Southampton should not be affected.

London Fire Brigade sent twelve fire engines and 80 firefighters to the inferno.

They urged neighbours near Rivulet Road to keep their windows closed as efforts continued to extinguish the blaze.

Station Manager Mark Jordan said from the scene: “Crews are making steady progress. They continue to work hard to contain the fire and have successfully stopped it spreading to other units.

“For anyone attending the Tottenham vs Southampton football match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 3pm this afternoon, this incident will not affect play but it's advisable to check your route before travelling to the football ground due to road closures.

The Metropolitan Police were also at the scene. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

Mr Jordan added: "Local residents are being advised to keep doors and windows shut due to the smoke from the fire as crews work to bring the blaze under control.

"The road is currently closed in both directions west of the A10 Great Cambridge Road to Rivulet Road."
