Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has backed a move to land Barcelona misfit Philippe Coutinho when the transfer window opens.
The Brazil international has struggled to make an impact since leaving Liverpool for the Catalan side and has spent the season on loan with Bayern Munich.
However, his services are up for grabs once again as the Bundesliga giants have decided not to move to make his spell at the club permanent.
Barcelona are keen to sell and a return to the Premier League has been spoken about extensively, with Spurs among the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in being linked with his signature.
While there may be some concerns about a move for Coutinho given the hefty wages he would have to be paid and his performances in the last few seasons, Robinson believes he'd be a good fit in Jose Mourinho's side.
“The market will take a hit but there will still be movement of players. I can still see the Coutinho deal being done," he told Football Insider.
“Bayern have not taken the option and he has clearly not been part of Barcelona’s plans for a while now and I can see a move back to the Premier League happening.
“I think he would be a great signing for Spurs. I do not think he has settled since leaving the country and he is clearly a player that suits the Premier League. The league is stronger with him in it, certainly.”
27-year-old Coutinho was a fan favourite at Liverpool during his time at Anfield, scoring 41 goals in 152 Premier League appearances.
