Former Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly believes that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli can become of the best players in Europe.
Alli, who started his career with MK Dons, joined Spurs back in February 2015 and has developed into one of the Premier League's most established midfielders.
Though Alli has consistently played in the league and other competitions for Tottenham in recent years, critics believe that he still has the potential to go up another gear and become one of the Premier League's best players.
"He is a pure talent. It was good to see him playing alongside Eriksen to understand the technicality of the game - but we want him to be much more of a killer," Desailly told beIN Sports.
"He has the talent, we want him to score more, we want him to hold the offensive animation of his team much more, especially in the position that, every time, coaches put him in.
"He has been in the game a long time now. What a talent he is but we are still a bit frustrated when you talk about him. You see the potential but you are expecting, all the time, better from him.
"So it is just a matter of patience and, for me, mentally he has to understand that he can become one of those best players in Europe.
"But he doesn't seem to have that."
Alongside Desailly in the beIN Sports studio was another former Chelsea man in the shape of Ruud Gullit.
And the Dutchman is in a similar opinion to Desailly in believing that there is more to come.
Gullit said: "He is the exact player that when you're playing against him you want to hit him as hard as you can. He gets that thing under you.
"He is always involved in things.
"I had a few little doubts about him and he has proved my doubts, and then Mourinho brought him to a better level.
"I hope he can sustain it because that is the most difficult part with him."
Tottenham are currently in the midst of an attacking nightmare, with both Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son sidelined through injury.
With that in mind, Gullit believes that Alli should grab the opportunity to showcase talents that may not have ever been seen before.
"Mourinho saw him and made him more motivated as well to express himself. I think that is what I see," he added.
"So, for me, I want to see a little bit more of him. I want to see something that I haven't seen [before]."
