Tottenham fans will love what Lucas Moura has said about the top-four race and Steven Bergwijn

The race for a Champions League place is well and truly up for grabs after a very good weekend for Tottenham in the Premier League.

Having watched Chelsea drop points on Saturday lunchtime with a 2-2 draw at Leicester City, the Lilywhites knew that they could cut the Blues' lead down to four points if they could beat Man City.

Jose Mourinho's men did just that as they collected all three points against the reigning champions courtesy of goals from Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min.

City really could have taken the points given Ilkay Gundogan missed a penalty and then blazed over shortly after the restart, but it was the hosts who took their opportunities in an entertaining game.

Tottenham transfer window verdict

With Chelsea facing Manchester United next and Spurs in action at Aston Villa, there's a good chance that Mourinho's side will be able to leapfrog their London rivals by the time they face off at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, February 22.

Lucas Moura was asked about the team's chances of a top-four finish following the win and what he said will delight supporters.

"That's our objective the top four and it's clear," he said. "Of course we can arrive there but we need to think step by step, game by game, win points and don't lose stupid points like we did in the last few games.

"Let's think about the next game, step by step like I said, and I'm sure we can arrive in the top four and finish the season well."

Spurs' front four against City was extremely attacking with Lucas, Son, Bergwijn and Dele Alli looking to make things happen for the team in the final third.

It was the Dutchman who helped the team to three crucial points with a stunning strike and Lucas is already impressed with what he has seen from Bergwijn in his first few days in N17.

"First of all I'm so happy for him" he added. "I've been with him for three days and we can see that he's a very good guy, a very nice guy and a quality player.

"He will help us a lot because he has a lot of quality.

"We need everyone that is a quality player and they come with this mentality to help the team, it's welcome."
