Tottenham are in the midst of a busy summer transfer window.
The Lillywhites' new footballing director Fabio Paratici has freshened up the squad, offloading Toby Alderweireld, Erik Lamela and Juan Foyth as the Italian attempts to steer the north London club back into the UEFA Champions League following a two-year hiatus.
Spurs have since signed Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on loan from Atalanta before signing diminutive Spanish playmaker Bryan Gil and Argentine tough-tackling centre-back Cristian Romero on permanent deals.
Romero's move to N17 has attracted considerable attention given he was awarded the Serie A defender of the season award following his impressive displays for Atalanta over the course of the 2020/21 campaign.
football.london revealed earlier this month that the 23-year-old had garnered interest from Catalan giants Barcelona before sealing his move to Nuno Espirito Santo's side and Romero himself admitted that Spurs' eagerness to bring him to north London helped convince him that they were the best club for him.
"Yes, yes, I knew [about] it, but I ended up deciding on Tottenham because they were firm from the first day", Romero told Spanish outlet AS.
"I wanted to play in the Premier League, I decided from a football point of view."
"With even more strength, more goals, to continue growing. That was why I decided to come to Tottenham, it will give me more experience, a great club, I will be able to play in the best league in the world."
The Argentine international's registered hugely impressive defensive numbers last season, averaging 2.92 tackles, 2.75 interceptions and 4.06 successful aerial duels per game last term. Comparatively, no Tottenham centre-half came remotely close to any of these three defensive actions across the 2020/21 campaign.
