Tottenham Hotspur are still trying to complete a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
Spurs are keen to sign a striker before the January window closes, and Jose Mourinho has targeted France international Giroud.
The former Arsenal favourite moved to Chelsea in 2018 and won the FA Cup in his first season, before finishing as top scorer in the Europa League last year as the Blues beat the Gunners 4-1 in the final.
Watching Giroud head home the first goal on the night was hard to take for Arsenal fans.
But what proved even worse was the perceived mocking of the Gunners in a video shared on social media after the game by midfielder Jorginho - a clip that Spurs fans will certainly enjoy revisiting amid the ongoing talks for the player.
Giroud celebrated by shouting: "Thank you, Arsenal," on the Chelsea coach after the game.
The forward had earlier described his respect for Arsenal in an interview with BT Sport, adding that the club had changed his life and given him the opportunity to live his dream of playing in the Premier League.
He said: "I improved so much so I owe them my life. I didn't want to celebrate but on another side I'm so proud to win this trophy with Chelsea.
"Now I'm definitely a true blue."
football.london understands Giroud trained as normal at Cobham this morning with his hopes of a move away waning by the hour.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has insisted throughout that the 33-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of June, would only be allowed to leave if a replacement was found.
More than half a dozen clubs had registered their interest in the France striker. Reports in Italy saying that he would threaten to go on strike were way off the mark - and all indications from Chelsea are that Lampard and his coaching staff have been satisfied by Giroud’s professionalism despite asking to leave.
