Tottenham fans will love Steven Bergwin's gift for his new baby

Steven Bergwijn has made sure that Tottenham Hotspur have a new fan in his newborn son.

The 22-year-old was given permission by the club to return home to the Netherlands this month as his partner prepared to give birth to their first child.

Bergwijn 's son arrived this week and the Netherlands international has wasted little time in making sure he is a Tottenham fan.

The Dutchman posted images on his Instagram Story of a baby-sized Spurs away kit, shown above, with the name Saint on the back and his own squad number 23 underneath.

Bergwijn is currently recovering from an ankle injury which brought an abrupt pause to a bright start to life at Tottenham after his £25m move from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven.

The young winger scored a spectacular debut goal in Spurs' victory against Manchester City in February.

However, a month later after scoring against Wolves he severely sprained his ankle in the next match at Burnley.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho said Bergwijn would miss the remainder of the season at that point.

However, the shutdown of football, with the sport unlikely to return until June at the earliest means that the Dutch winger will join the likes of Harry Kane and other injured players across the world could well end up playing matches they had expected to miss.
