Former Tottenham captain Michael Dawson has issued advice to reported Arsenal target Joey Dawson, telling him he'd be joining the wrong North London side if he completed a transfer.
The 16-year-old Scunthorpe United talent is the son of former Hull City defender Andy Dawson and football runs in his family, with Michael the uncle to the teenager.
Joey Dawson became the youngest player in Scunthorpe's history when he featured in the Carabao Cup game against Derby at 16 years, 75 days old.
Since then, speculation has suggested that Arsenal are looking to land the young midfielder - but his uncle has issued some advice to the youngster regarding his future.
“When I saw that the other day, I thought he’s signing for the wrong side in north London!" He told TalkSport.
"He’s 16, who started [as an academy scholar] in July and then got the opportunity at Scunthorpe with Paul Hurst and Chris Doig.”
Dawson then gave some insight on the League Two talent attracting the attentions of some of the Premier League's big guns, heaping praise upon his ability.
“He’s good on the ball and as he’s young; if he keeps his head down, keeps working, you never know where that will lead.”
