Giovani Lo Celso has returned to Tottenham Hotspur amid reports of an injury setback.
The midfielder, who arrived at Spurs just over a month ago on a season-long loan deal from Real Betis, gave Mauricio Pochettino a scare when he last just 53 minutes of Argentina's clash against Chile in Los Angeles last Thursday.
After the game the national team posted an update stating that Lo Celso had injured his left groin.
Although, he played down the severity of the injury.
"My problem was only a blow, it is not something to worry about," Lo Celso told the media.
Amid conflicting reports over the 23-year-old's injury situation, the latest doesn't make good reading for Spurs and Pochettino ahead of this weekend's London derby against Crystal Palace.
The Evening Standard claim that Spurs fear that Lo Celso has suffered a serious groin injury whilst on international duty with Argentina.
Furthermore, the report states that the Lilywhites are concerned they could be without the midfielder for several weeks.
With that said, it seems as if Lo Celso is in high spirits after teammate at club as well as international level Erik Lamela posted a picture of him at the club's training ground.
Whilst Lamela is clearly poking fun at his compatriot, the fact that Lo Celso is able stand without assistance as well as having no visible strapping around his groin would suggest the injury isn't too serious.
That would be great news for those Spurs fans fearing the worst.
In other Spurs injury news, club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele is expected to return to the squad against Crystal Palace after missing the defeat against Newcastle United as well as the 2-2 draw with Arsenal before the international break.
Our Tottenham writer Alasdair Gold had some positive news regarding the Frenchman when addressing fans during a Q&A session last week.
"The Spurs boss seemed to indicate that Ndombele will hopefully be back for the Palace match. He reckons it was a minor thigh injury and he should be back once the international break ends.
"France haven’t called him up so he has two clear weeks more to recover.
"Spurs have missed the attacking tempo he brings and Pochettino will be hoping he can call upon the club record signing against Roy Hodgson’s men."
