Tottenham fans split on Hugo Lloris transfer replacement amid Nick Pope and Dean Henderson links

Tottenham fans have been reacting to reports their club will try to sign Nick Pope this summer.

Current Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been criticised in recent weeks for his performances amid what has been a disappointing run of form for Jose Mourinho's men.

And there is talk Lloris could now leave North London in the summer with Mourinho potentially looking to strengthen his options between the sticks.

It was thought Tottenham would turn to Manchester United's Dean Henderson should Lloris depart ahead of next season, but it seems that won't be the case with Borussia Dortmund said to be interested in the Reds keeper.

The Daily Mail claim Spurs will instead target Burnley keeper Nick Pope on a £30million deal, the Clarets stopper already earmarked as the club's number one option.

Pope has impressed at Burnley in recent years after taking over from Tom Heaton, who has since left for Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old has been with the Clarets since his 2016 move from Charlton Athletic and is under contract at Turf Moor until 2023, allowing Burnley plenty of room to demand a big fee for their number one keeper.

But that may not be a problem for Spurs, particularly if Lloris does go, and many fans are already on board with the idea of pursuing Pope this summer.

Here's what a selection have had to say on social media.

Mourinho actually described Lloris as the 'best keeper in the world' back in December, saying: "My goalkeeper is the best in the Premiership. Full stop.

"If I really have to blame someone, I do it with the whole team. It's the one who wins, draws or loses. At half-time I gave some instructions to the players and in the second half they did exactly the opposite."

But the Frenchman has lost form since then and amid criticism, the 34-year-old might yet opt for a new challenge after nine years at Spurs.
