Tottenham fans send message to Daniel Levy after Jan Vertonghen's tackle vs Bournemouth

Spurs fans have called on Chairman Daniel Levy to get defender Jan Vertonghen signed up to a new deal as soon as possible, after the Belgian pulled of a last ditch goal saving tackle to secure the three points against Bournemouth, to maintain Jose Mourinho's 100% win record in charge of Tottenham.

Having led by three goals to nil, Tottenham again faced a nervy end to the game after conceding two late Harry Wilson goals, and Bournemouth had the chance to snatch an unlikely point from the game when Callum Wilson was ready to pull the trigger in front of goal.

However, Vertonghen managed to get a toe on the ball to take it away from the England striker and prevent what would have been a dramatic equaliser.

The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning that he can talk to teams from outside of the UK about a move during the January transfer window, and will be available for nothing should he not sign a new deal, or extend his current on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He is in a similar situation to fellow defender Toby Alderweireld and midfielder Christian Eriksen.

Peter Crouch: Mourinho is a 'breath of fresh air' for Spurs

Tottenham have celebrated the tackle on social media, with the caption: "Super Jan to the rescue," and Spurs fans have used the opportunity to heap praise on the defender, and also send a message to Levy over his future.

Vertonghen made his return to the team against Bournemouth after missing the last three Premier League matches with a muscle injury.
