But the main man Kane headed in Jack Grealish's cross from the left to send the Three Lions faithful into a euphoric state with four minutes remaining.
The 27-year-old had struggled to make much of an impact at Euro 2020 and in this game itself, but when it mattered the most, he stood up to the occasion.
Just like he always does for his club Tottenham Hotspur.
