Tottenham fans love what Gareth Bale did after penalty shoot-out victory vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur progressed to the last-eight of the Carabao Cup with a penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Having been trailing to Timo Werner's first Chelsea goal for the vast majority of the contest, Spurs forced a penalty shoot-out with just seven minutes remaining, equalising via Erik Lamela's close range finish.

That was enough to force the contest to a shoot-out and Spurs came out on top, winning 5-4. Jose Mourinho's side had dispatched all five of their penalties before Blues midfielder Mason Mount clipped the post with his spot-kick.

Mount's miss, of course, saw a much-changed Spurs side progress to the last-eight of the competition, keeping their hopes of securing a first League Cup success since 2008 alive.

And by the time the quarter-finals do arrive, Mourinho may have Gareth Bale to call upon. The Wales international returned to the club on loan from Real Madrid for the campaign earlier this month but remains sidelined through injury.

Despite that, the winger was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to support his teammates against the Blues, and he was clearly delighted to see his team progress once Mount's kick from 12 yards had struck the woodwork.

Watching from the stands, Bale, alongside a Spurs official, stood up, donning a massive smile on his face, and applauded his teammates' achievement.

Though he was not on the pitch to take part, Spurs' fans will have no doubt been delighted to have witnessed their new recruit showing such support and passion.
