Tottenham have a theory over Tottenham's new Twitter account and the possibility of a new contract for Son Heung-min.
Son is under contract at Spurs until 2023, but it is well-known that the club are trying to tie him down to a new deal amid his excellent form across this season having scored 12 goals in 18 Premier League appearances.
Talks over a new deal have dragged on with no real rush given Son still has two years remaining on his new deal, but excitement is growing over the possibility of the South Korean putting pen-to-paper.
That's because some fans have a theory linking the possibility of a new deal for Son to Tottenham's announcement of a new Twitter account.
Spurs have launched a new South Korean Twitter account (@Spurs_KR) and predictably, Son is the face of it, represented in the cover picture and with a variety of new hashtags which show his face.
Son is the football darling of his home country and will, no doubt, be pivotal in growing the account, and fans believe the club could have a secret weapon behind their sleeve as they look to ensure the page takes off in South Korea.
Supporters believe the club could announce Son's new contract on the account and that its creation points to the fact that a new deal is close.
One fan, @coys100, tweeted: "Spurs set up a whole new Korean account. A new Son emoji and new Son hashtags. Has to be contract announcement this week surely."
It will be interesting to see if that is the case or whether Spurs are simply continuing to extend their brand.
Speaking about the new account, Son has said: "It is great to know the importance my club places on our fans in Korea – this is something that has been clear from the moment I joined.
“I have seen first-hand the growing popularity of Spurs in my home country, with the amount of Korean fans that travel to watch us play.
“I am sure the new Twitter account will prove hugely popular - I am looking forward to being involved and bringing followers exclusive content.”
Son has been one of the players of the season for Spurs this season, scoring 16 and assisting nine in 27 appearances across all competitions to date.
