Tottenham fans baffled as 'Harry Kane kit appears in Ajax changing room'

Tottenham will have to make do without Harry Kane as they welcome Ajax for their huge Champions League semi-final first leg.

Kane suffered an ankle injury in the first leg of their dramatic quarter-final win over Manchester City and is set to be ruled out for the rest of the season.

But some Spurs fans came up with a theory that he might defy the news delivered by Mauricio Pochettino and make a shock appearance.

The reason for their false hope? A tweet from Ajax's official account as they arrived at the Tottenham Hostpur Stadium, during which they shared a picture of the kits of both sides laid out in the changing rooms.

They confirmed they will be wearing their black away kit, as worn when they stunned Juventus in the last round, with Tottenham in their home kit.

But the picture showed Kane's No.10 Spurs kit in their changing room alongside Hugo Lloris' orange goalkeeping kit.

Kane's kit also appeared laid out in the Ajax changing rooms in a video on their Instagram story, captioned "never change a winning kit...".

It led to fans responding with "surely not..." as they wondered whether it was in fact a leak which showed Kane would feature.

Fans went to some lengths to check that the picture had never been posted online before, sparking rumours Kane could make a surprise appearance on the bench.

Unfortunately for Spurs fans, his ligament damage means that won't be the case, and it was most likely just chance that one of his kits was laid out to demonstrate the colours being used this evening.

That is probably good news for Ajax, however, as one fan stated: "If these photos are from today then lord I wish you the best of luck becuase that score will not be a pretty sight."

Another added: "Don’t tease us with this #10 stuff Ajax! You don’t want Kane to make you regret it"

Others noticed the price tag was still attached to Kane's shorts, however, seemingly giving confirmation the brief glimmer of hope was too good to be true for Spurs.
