Tottenham fans, and publicans, welcome Spurs back to N17 with open arms as life at new stadium begins

Tottenham fans struggled to hide their joy as old matchday routines became the norm once more with the opening of the new stadium after nearly two years away.

Season ticket holders poured back into The Victoria in anticipation of a Premier League game for the first time since May 2017. It has been a real struggle for landlords in the area with Mauricio Pochettino and his side plying their trade across north London at Wembley Stadium since that Finale against Manchester United.

The new stadium heralds a new era for English football, with bars and food outlets aimed at drawing fans in early and keeping them in long after the live football has finished.

But for those who have been coming to this part of Tottenham for decades, old traditions die hard.

Local pubs are still enjoying streams of supporters as the area springs back to life on matchday, Tottenham are home and few could be happier.
