Tottenham fans all say the same thing as Callum Wilson scores on Newcastle United debut

Newcastle United started the new Premier League season in perfect fashion after sweeping aside West Ham in a 2-0 win at the London Stadium.

The Magpies travelled to East London for the evening kick-off looking for a strong start to the new campaign - and they got exactly that in a win inspired by their debutants.

Callum Wilson opened his account for Steve Bruce's side with a second-half effort, with the assist coming from Jeff Hendrick - who capped off his excellent debut with a goal on his own to settle any late nerves.

Wilson's goal will certainly provide a boost to Newcastle for the campaign that lies ahead, as there is plenty of optimism surrounding the England international.

In fact, there is a large sense of jealousy amongst rival fans in the league - with Tottenham fans, in particular, taking to social media to express their woes in missing out on his services.

Jose Mourinho's side lack depth in their centre-forward ranks beyond Harry Kane, which left them exposed last season, and many believed Wilson was the ideal recruit.

Having missed out on his signature, seeing him open his account for Newcastle rubbed salt into the wounds of the aggrieved Spurs supporters and many could not help but issue the same message on Twitter.
