Tottenham fan's incredible pre-Manchester City prediction goes viral

Tottenham Hotspur's dramatic Champions League victory over Manchester City on Wednesday was predicted by one Twitter user at half-time - right down to the unusual detail of Fernando Llorente's late winner.

The Spaniard scored at the near post from a corner with 15 minutes to play at the Etihad, after his attempted header skewed off his hip and past City goalkeeper Ederson.

That goal completed the scoring on a crazy night in Manchester after the visitors had cruised into a 3-1 aggregate lead before being pegged back midway through the second half.

And one Spurs fan predicted at the break that the striker would grab the winner in a less than stylish fashion.

He wrote: "Just want to let you guys know that when Spurs inevitably concede a goal to City and Fernando Llorente sends us to the Semis with the most garbage goal off his hip, I will be starting a cult in his honor. That’s is all."

Mauricio Pochettino thought Tottenham had lost Man City epic before VAR drama

Spurs looked to have thrown away their place in the last four in the dying seconds when Raheem Sterling - who had already netted two of City's first-half goals - collected the ball from Sergio Aguero's pull-back to slide the ball past Hugo Lloris to seemingly put City in front.

But Pep Guardiola's joy was short-lived - a VAR check concluded that Aguero had strayed offside when the ball was played to him, and the Etihad's celebrations were punctured as City realised their Champions League dream was over.

Tottenham making Champions League semis was "destiny", says Mauricio Pochettino

Spurs will face Ajax in the last four - the club's first-ever appearance in the semi-final of Europe's top competition - after the Dutch side overcame Cristiano Ronaldo's Juventus in Turin to set up an unlikely pairing one step from the final.
