Tottenham fan involved in Chelsea ‘medical emergency’ breaks silence with update on condition

The supporter involved in a medical emergency during Tottenham Hotspur’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg against Chelsea has issued an update that he is ‘ok’ despite being treated in hospital.

The clash on Wednesday was paused just before second half stoppage time due to an incident occurring in the South Stand of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Supporters alerted medical staff to the situation, with referee Andre Marriner electing to pause the game whilst the affected person received treatment.

Play resumed a few minutes later, Tottenham eventually falling to a 3-0 aggregate defeat.

The official line from the north London club was that the incident was a ‘medical emergency’, with the affected supporter Leo then taking to Twitter shortly after the game to offer an update on his condition.

He wrote: “Unfortunately it was me, one thing I was fine next thing I was in the medical room, current waiting for tests at the hospital but I feel ok now, thank you to everyone who assisted me.”

The Tottenham fan then gave further information on exactly what the problem was via a Twitter exchange.

He continued: “Yh I’m ok chest pain still but getting better, waiting for some tests.”

In response to the update, both Chelsea and Tottenham have sent their well-wishes, Spurs writing: "Wishing you all the best, Leo."

The Blues followed that up in kind by replying: "Everyone here at Chelsea sends you our best wishes, Leo."

The situation against Chelsea was not the first time this season that a Spurs game has been affected by a medical emergency in the stands.

The north Londoners’ clash with Newcastle United at St James’ Park this season in similar circumstances - Sergio Reguilon eventually drawing the referees’ attention to their plight.

Meanwhile, an identical situation also occurred during their New Years’ Day trip to Watford.

Fortunately, all of the fans affected appear to be in positive health after receiving treatment.
