Tottenham face repeat of last season after 2020/21 Premier League fixtures 'leak'

The release of the fixtures ahead of the new season are always eagerly awaited.

And with the 2020/21 campaign just four weeks away from starting, fans will not have to wait too long.

The coronavirus pandemic has meant a late end to 2019/20 and a subsequently a quick turnaround for the Premier League in terms of preparations for the new season.

football.london understands that the fixture list will be out by the end of next week, with suggestions that Friday, August 21 could be the day for all football fans to look forward to.

Of course, it will be tinged somewhat this year, with no clues as yet as to when fans will be allowed back into stadiums following the coronavirus pandemic.

XI players linked with a Spurs transfer

Have we already had a glimpse of how the fixtures on the opening day may play out though?

The hugely popular fantasy football game on Fantasy Premier League has launched for the new season and they always tell you who each player will be playing next when you pick your squad.

But they may have 'leaked' the opening day's fixtures already, with some eagle-eyed fans suggesting their squad showed who the players would be playing next.

The ability to see that has now been removed, perhaps with someone at the Premier League noticing and changing the coding, but some supporters have already been talking about the opening day.

Chelsea fans picked up on the 'leak' and it suggests that Tottenham could face off against Aston Villa on the opening day of the season, much like they did last year.

Spurs won that game 3-1, but had to come from behind to do so, with record signing Tanguy Ndombele scoring on his debut.

Of course, the information on Fantasy Premier League could just have been used as placeholders, particularly with Manchester United and City playing at home on the same weekend, which is never done because of policing issues, but it could also be true, with the two teams matches potentially moved for TV coverage.
