Tottenham face Bayern Munich threat in bid to complete Radu Dragusin transfer

Tottenham face the threat of competition from Bayern Munich in their bid to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

Spurs are continuing talks over a move for Dragusin and hope to complete a deal for the Romanian international this week.

But Bayern have the 21-year-old on their shortlist as they consider centre-back options for the January transfer window.

Bayern’s interest in Dragusin is not thought to be at an advanced stage yet, but reports in Romania claim they could meet Genoa’s asking price of around £25million.

Spurs defender Eric Dier is hopeful of completing a move to Bayern after agreeing personal terms over a switch to Germany.

But Dier is one of a few options for Bayern to strengthen their defence and a move for Dragusin could scupper his deal, as well as Tottenham’s move for Dragusin.

Spurs have been targeting a new centre-back signing before they play Manchester United on Sunday.

Having Dragusin available for the visit to Old Trafford would be a boost for head coach Ange Postecoglou, with Cristian Romero and Ben Davies, who has been filling in at the heart of defence, considered major doubts for the game with respective hamstring injuries.

Micky van de Van was back on the bench against Burnley in the FA Cup on Friday after his own hamstring lay-off.
