Tottenham face £4m transfer battle as fans' dream scenario under Jose Mourinho is delayed

Here's all the news from around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Winks could get transfer wish

Harry Winks could get his wish this summer after reportedly deciding on his next move.

The Tottenham midfielder has been limited in his game time under Jose Mourinho this season, starting just six times and only making nine Premier League appearances in total.

Spanish publication Sport have claimed that Winks is one of the Premier League players who would like to play in La Liga someday, with the possibility of following former Spurs teammate Kieran Tripper - now at Atletico Madrid - to Spain.

And he might be able to get his wish when the summer transfer reopens at the end of the season.

That's because Valencia are admirers of Winks and with crown prince of Southern Malaysia state Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, expressing an interest in taking over from the much-maligned current owner Peter Lim at the Mestalla, it could put them in position to sign the midfielder.

According to reports, Valencia had a loan bid for Winks rejected during the January transfer window, but they could yet make another move for the 25-year-old.

Winks, under contract until 2024 would likely cost Valencia, or indeed anyone else, more than £20million this summer if Spurs did want to sell the midfielder.

Dream Rodon scenario delayed

Having everyone Tottenham first-team player available for selection does bring about some major headaches for Jose Mourinho as a handful of players will miss out altogether when it comes to the 20-man squad on a matchday.

Joe Rodon, Japhet Tanganga and Steven Bergwijn were not selected for the visit of Burnley, with the trio joining Giovani Lo Celso, who was still not ready to return from his hamstring issue, in watching on as the Lilywhites romped to a 4-0 win.

In Rodon's case, he has not been selected at all by Mourinho in his squad in the league since the 2-0 win over West Brom.

Unable to play in the Europa League and cup-tied for the Carabao Cup final in April, Spurs' FA Cup exit at the hands of Everton means that the Welshman's only hope of football between now and the end of the season is in the Premier League.

However, his recent omission from the matchday squad means he may have to wait a while before his chance comes his way again

It was always going to be a transitional season for Rodon and Tottenham fans may have to wait a bit longer for their dream scenario to come to fruition.

Tottenham facing £4m transfer battle

Tottenham Hotspur will face a battle with Ajax to sign Anderlecht winger Paul Mukairu.

According to the Mirror, Spurs are confident of winning the race for Mukairu’s signature, with a fee of £4 million potentially enough to get the deal done.

However, a representative speaking on behalf of the left-winger explained is pushing for a move to Holland instead.

"Ajax are interested in Paul," the aforementioned representative told Score Nigeria, as per HITC. "He is a highly technical player who will fit the Ajax style.

"He is not yet the finished article and Ajax would be a great club for him to continue with his development.

“It will also be a chance for the player to feature in the Champions League season after season.”
