Tottenham eye Steven Bergwijn after 'submitting £30m bid' for PSV Eindhoven star

Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of PSV Eindhoven star Steven Bergwijn.

The 22-year-old was left out of the Eredivisie side's squad to face FC Twente after speculation cranked up surrounding his future.

The Dutch international, who often operates a left-winger has been heavily touted with a move to Spurs as they look to add to their forward line following injury to Harry Kane.

It's now believed that Spurs lodged a bid believed to be in the region of £30million, reported by The Mirror.

Sources in Holland expect the deal to be done in the next 48 hours, with Jose Mourinho and chairman Daniel Levy believed to have met with Bergwijn's advisers last week.

Leicester City had also been credited with an interest in Bergwijn, although it looks like Spurs have won the race for his signature.

Bergwijn has scored six goals this season and is comfortable playing anywhere across the forward line, which is what Tottenham have been searching for.

With Kane an undisputed starter when fit, Mourinho has been keen to add a forward capable of playing out wide as well as down the middle, similar to Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura.

Bergwijn, who has been capped seven times for his the Netherlands under Ronald Koeman, has won three Eredivisie titles with PSV.
