Tottenham eye Mauro Icardi transfer as fans make feelings perfectly clear on ownership

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Sunday, May 16.

Icardi deal on the cards?

Tottenham are reportedly eyeing up one of their former manager's players as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, should the England captain move on this summer.

Speculation over the future of Kane remains a hot topic as elite European clubs, such as Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, are thought to be pricing up a high-profile transfer.

According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the London side are monitoring Mauro Icardi - who plays under former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino at PSG.

Valued at between €35-40million, the Argentine forward is thought to be near the top of Tottenham's wish list, in the unwanted event of Kane opting for pastures new.

Protests at Spurs stadium

Supporters gathered outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in protest to the club's owners and involvement in highly-controversial European Super League (ESL) breakaway proposals.

The future of football as we know it was thrown into doubt last month when six Premier League sides - including Spurs plus London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea - were confirmed among 12 initial signatories for reform plans drawn up by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

ESL plans were promptly stopped in their tracks, but Tottenham fans are the latest to vent their frustrations.

Hundreds of them gathered at the club's stadium yesterday afternoon. An official protest is also expected to be held ahead of this afternoon's Premier League clash against Wolves (2.05pm).

Interim manager Ryan Mason has, though, called for unity.

He said: "I respect the fans, they are the heart and soul of the football club and their opinion matters, it really does. We want our fans, our team, our football club to be aligned, all pulling in the same direction."

Eyoma offers Mason insight

TJ Eyoma has shed light on what it's like to train under the Premier League club's interim manager Mason.

Following the departure of Jose Mourinho last month, the former Tottenham midfielder was handed the reigns as he became the youngest manager in Premier League history.

Eyoma, who has spent this season on loan with Lincoln City, spoke exclusively to football.london about what sort of impact Mason will have made - having played under him in the Spurs academy.

He said: "They [training sessions] do differ. The training sessions you have to really concentrate as it's tough on the mind and also physically. I can see why the players do enjoy training.

"He's a good coach. I feel like all the young boys get on really well with him and he just tries to help us every single day. I'm really happy for him that he's got the managerial role at the club until the end of the season."
