Tottenham evening headlines: Lloris injury update, Parrott's recognition, Sessegnon's dream

It has been a busy day after the night before in terms of Tottenham Hotspur news.

Spurs ensured that a win over Olympiacos in the next round of fixtures will ensure their safe passage into the knockout stages of the Champions League with a game to spare after a 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in Serbia.

It was a welcome result for Mauricio Pochettino and his under pressure players, but attention immediately turns to their Premier League return this weekend and the visit of Sheffield United, who have surprised a few people so far this season.

There has been news on the injury front and the international scene too, with another international break around the corner.

Here are the headlines on Thursday evening.

Hugo Lloris update

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, injured during the 3-0 defeat to Brighton, has undergone surgery.

The France World Cup winner landed awkwardly when failing to deal with the Seagulls' first goal, dislocating his elbow.

And he has undergone surgery on that injury now.

Troy Parrott call-up

There have been plenty of calls from Spurs fans for Troy Parrott to be handed a role in the first team squad.

And whilew Mauricio Pochettino has only used him in the Carabao Cup and on the bench so far this season, Parrott's quality has been noted - by his international manager.

Mick McCarthy has handed the teenager his first call-up to the senior Ireland squad for the next international break.

Here's a piece on what that means for Spurs in the long run.

Ryan Sessegnon in dreamland

Ryan Sessegnon has had to wait to get into the Spurs first team.

Injury has stopped him from getting straight into the first team since his summer move from Fulham, but he was a last-minute substitute against Everton at the weekend and followed it up with a 15-minute cameo against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night.

It was the former Fulham man's Champions League debut.

And he could not have been happier.

Three to be assessed

Mauricio Pochettino will assess the fitness of three players before naming his squad for the game against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Spurs boss likes to shuffle his pack when he has midweek games and the match against the Blades could see a different team to the one that player in Serbia.

And certain players do not have as much match fitness as others.

Read who Pochettino will be assessing ahead of the game here.
