Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Friday, January 29.
Bale won’t replace Kane
Jose Mourinho doesn’t view Gareth Bale as a potential option to replace the injury Harry Kane in the centre of Tottenham’s attack.
Spurs are anxiously waiting to learn of the full extent of Kane’s injury as the club captain hurt both ankles during the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday evening.
He will definitely be out of Sunday’s clash against Brighton & Hove Albion which leaves Son Heung-min and Carlos Vinicius as the obvious striking options, although the latter has limited Premier League experience.
Lucas Moura and Bale, who has been used sparingly since his loan arrival from Real Madrid, are potential alternatives alongside Son but Mourinho said: “I don’t think Gareth is a striker, I don’t think he likes to play as a striker.
"It was something that we spoke when we joined us, he was very objective with me, by saying he doesn’t feel he is a left winger like he was before, he doesn’t feel like he is a No 10 like he was before, too.
“The position that he likes to play is the position where we are playing him every minute we give him, which is the right side of the attack. So when Gareth plays starting or coming from the bench, that’s his position in our game.”
Rose could seal exit
Danny Rose’s Tottenham purgatory could be coming to an end with Trabzonspor hopeful they can sign the left-back.
TalkSPORT claim Rose also has interest from West Brom and Sheffield United but Turkey is his most likely destination.
Former England international Rose, who hasn’t played for Spurs since January 11, 2020, has been totally frozen out under Mourinho and has only played Under-23 football this season.
Dele decision could go to the wire
Paris Saint-Germain are no closer to completely a loan move for Spurs midfielder Dele Alli but remain in talks over a possible deal, according to L'Equipe and a number of other outlets.
Alli has made just one Premier League start this season and is said to be open to a move to gain more first-team minutes, with his place in the England squad ahead of the European Championships surely in doubt.
But both PSG and Spurs seem to be in the position where by to necessitate the transfer, the Ligue 1 club need to move a player on and the Premier League side must find a replacement in the squad before Monday's deadline.
