Crystal Palace owner makes Wilfried Zaha transfer claim
Simon Jordan has stated he could see Wilfried Zaha leave Crystal Palace for Tottenham Hotspur amid continued speculation that the winger will depart Selhurst Park this summer.
The 27-year-old still has three years left on his current contract at the club, but Roy Hodgson admitted after Palace’s final game of the season on Sunday that he is resigned to losing Zaha. The club’s owner has now also had his say.
“I could see him going to Tottenham. He wants to go,” Jordan told talkSport. “It depends how Mourinho wants to set them up next year and what he wants to achieve. He is in the price category that Daniel [Levy, the chairman] might be willing to spend.”
Jose Mourinho favourite considering Tottenham Hotspur move
Ivan Perisic is considering making a move to Tottenham Hotspur with Bayern Munich expected not to take up the option to sign the Croatian permanently this summer.
The 31-year-old has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the Allianz Arena from Inter, but is expected to be on the move again this summer, with Spurs one of the potential options in front of him.
Inter News claims the North London club are long-standing admirers of Perisic and with Mourinho seemingly keen to lure more experienced players to Spurs before the start of next season a deal could be done.
“Normally you look at wingers and they are just fast and creative. But he is also physical, very physical. Fantastic in the air,” Mourinho said about Perisic in a previous interview, underlining his admiration of the player.
Manchester United move ‘makes sense’ for former Spurs defender
Jan Vertonghen has been told a move to Manchester United ‘makes sense’ after leaving Tottenham Hotspur after Sunday’s final game of the 2019/20 season.
The Belgian defender spent eight years in North London, but is now free to join another club after his contract has expired. Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas believes Old Trafford would be a logical next destination for Vertonghen.
“I keep touting him around everywhere but I’m sorry, Jan Vertonghen on a free is the best free transfer centre-half out there,” Jenas said on BBC 5Live. “If you can get Harry Maguire back on the right side and get an actual ball-playing centre-half as a left-sider, that little dynamic may change things for them as well and he’s free.
“It baffles me when I see him in the stand every week because I know how good this player is. I’ve played with him, I’ve watched him and on a free transfer, it just makes sense.”
