Tottenham evening headlines as Virgil van Dijk sends message to Son, Rose's classy gesture

Here are your evening headlines for Monday, April 6.

Spurs confirm Son decision

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Son Heung-min will undertake his military service before returning to the UK in May.

The 27-year-old gained exemption from two years of national service after winning the Asian Games with South Korea.

The striker must still undertake his basic training - believed to be between three and four weeks - and the club have now confirmed that he will undertake this during the current shutdown of football.

A Spurs statement read: “The club can confirm that Heung-Min Son will commence his mandatory military service in South Korea this month.

Rob Guest's full Tottenham Q&A

“The forward arrived back in his home country at the end of March where he is currently in quarantine.

“Our medical staff are in regular contact as he concludes his recovery after fracturing his arm in our 3-2 win against Aston Villa on February 16 and continues to train."

Van Dijk makes bold claim about Son

The Liverpool defender named Tottenham star Son Heung-min in his dream five-a-side team, but there was no space for Harry Kane.

The Dutch international was asked to select a dream Premier League five-a-side team, but only using non-Liverpool players.

Rose's classy gesture towards NHS staff

Danny Rose has sent food to NHS staff battling against the coronavirus.

The Tottenham defender, who is currently on loan at Newcastle United, had already been revealed as the mystery donor behind a £19,000 gift to North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton as they treat patients suffering from the coronavirus.

“For the hours you’re putting in and, more importantly, for putting yourself at risk to treat everybody,” Rose said.

“I wanted to say, on behalf of all my colleagues, that you are the heroes. You’re probably not getting as much recognition as you deserve so I just wanted to say ‘thank you very much.

“I’ve chosen your hospital because I’ve been there a couple of times through Tottenham, so it makes sense to go to you first. You are the heroes and the work and the hours you are putting in are not going unnoticed.”
