Tottenham evening headlines as transfer plans are revealed and Jose Mourinho's dream scenario

Here are the Tottenham evening headlines for Tuesday 19 January 2021.

Tottenham's centre-back hopes

With just under two weeks left of the January transfer window, Tottenham fans are calling for a new central defender to be brought into bolster Jose Mourinho's squad.

But will they get one?

Well, football.london understands that while Beijing Guoan centre-back Kim Min-jae is a player Spurs have looked at in the past year, they are not expected to move for him in the coming fortnight.

The same applies to Real Madrid's Eder Militao amid talk of a loan deal.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has already shut down any talk of leaving Italy this month.

So where does this leave Spurs and the search for a new defender before the January transfer window slams shut?

Gary Neville delivers verdict on Tanguy Ndombele

Tanguy Ndombele's sumptuous effort in the 3-1 win over Sheffield United at the weekend was one that had Man United legend Gary Neville drooling.

"Incredible goal. This is a sensational goal, absolutely brilliant, it's a rare goal as well," he said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football show.

"You see all different type of goals often, but that's a rare goal, you don't see too many of those."

And Neville gave Tottenham fans hope in the Premier League title race too.

"I think Leicester have got the best chance out of the two teams, I don't think Everton will break into the Champions League, but I think they're going to have to keep Tottenham at bay because I think they've got a resilience, they keep coming back even after they've been through a tough patch," he added.

Mourinho's to-do list

Tottenham have had to contend with a hectic schedule so far this season and it's not very often they have a midweek off due to their involvement in both the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

But this week, Jose Mourinho has a clear schedule - which means more time on the training pitch.

As the Lilywhites were in Premier League action last Wednesday, they do not play again until next Monday night when they take on Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup.

That is followed by a crunch clash against Liverpool three days later which means, Mourinho is likely to rest his big players for the game at Adams Park.

With that in mind, football.london takes a look at what will be on his to-do list ahead of the Wycombe and Liverpool games.

It could very well be that a free week training turns out to be a dream scenario for the Spurs boss as he doesn't have too many injury concerns which is good for squad rotation.
