Tottenham evening headlines as Tim Sherwood sends Daniel Levy message and Michal Karbownik eyed

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Sunday, May 3.

Premier League could conclude in Australia

Amid discussions regarding ‘Project Restart’ and if, when and how the Premier League can conclude the 2019/20 season, Spurs and the other 19 Premier League clubs have been offered a curveball solution.

Premier League bosses were this week provided the proposal of playing the remaining games in Perth, Australia, as some clubs express their concerns regarding matches being played at neutral stadiums.

Speaking to the Sun , English agent Gary Williams says that he has had discussions with the Premier League regarding a switch down-under.

“I have had discussions with contacts at Premier League clubs and they like the idea,” Williams said. “I have also spoken with government officials and they are enthusiastic. We are speaking again this week.

“Everybody is safe here. The government has lifted many restrictions. We are sitting round in groups of ten, we can walk around and the beaches are open. We have had four new cases in the last ten days.”

The Premier League is currently planning to conclude the season with a June 12 restart using neutral venues around the country, but should problems occur, hosting games in Perth could become an option.

Sherwood harbours no ill-feeling towards Levy

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood has said he harbours no ill-feeling towards the club or chairman Daniel Levy when he was replaced by Mauricio Pochettino in 2014.

Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas in December 2013 and reinvigorated the team with a free-spirited, joyful, attacking approach. He maintained a 59.1% win percentage but was duly succeeded by Pochettino at the end of the season.

Sherwood, though, says he is not angry with Levy given that he knew the situation all along.

“I knew I was holding fort before Pochettino came in,” Sherwood told the Daily Mail . “I also knew there was no point in taking over from Andre Villas-Boas and not changing anything. He got sacked for a reason.

“They weren’t winning enough football matches, scoring enough goals, or playing with enough freedom. So I looked at the players. Emmanuel Adebayor, for instance, was being isolated, training with me and the kids.”

Sherwood was then asked whether he felt he had been hard done by.

“No, because I knew. I knew the job. I knew the script,” he responded. “I knew he [Pochettino] was ready to come in and they needed someone in the meantime. It would’ve been different if I didn’t know.

“Perhaps I would’ve liked that opportunity, like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at United. But I knew it wasn’t my job.”

Barcelona join left-back chase

Young Polish star Michal Karbownik is attracting interest from across Europe, which reportedly includes Tottenham.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have joined the race for the left-back as Quique Seiten searches for a Jordi Alba successor. The report names Spurs, PSV Eindhoven and several La Liga clubs as potential suitors.

The 19-year-old provided seven assists in 29 appearances this season. He would reportedly be available for between £7m and £9m and offers a viable long-term replacement for Danny Rose and Ben Davies as Spurs search for a younger, more vibrant left-back option.
