Tottenham evening headlines as stadium development gets green light, Bale West Ham hint dropped

Good evening, Tottenham fans. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, October 13.

Tottenham granted approval for ‘phase three’ of stadium plan

Spurs have been granted approval for ‘phase three’ of their plans for the construction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the revitalisation of the area around the venue.

Haringey Council’s planning sub-committee approved Tottenham’s plans on Monday night to go ahead with their ‘Northumberland Terrace’ construction which will see space behind the High Road to the north-west of the stadium transformed.

Spurs own the terrace of listed buildings from 790 to 814 in that area of the High Road, as well as the car park behind them. Among these buildings is the HQ of the club’s foundation, Percy House.

Spurs drop hint over Bale’s potential return

Tottenham have hinted Gareth Bale is close to returning to full fitness with the Welshman still waiting to make his second debut for the club.

The Welsh star completed an emotional return to north London late in the summer transfer window, joining Spurs on loan from Real Madrid for the season.

However, he is still recovering from a knee injury suffered on international duty at the start of September.

Spurs, though, tweeted out a series of pictures of Bale in training at Hotspur Way which showed the winger involved in a passing drill under the watchful eye of Jose Mourinho.

football.london understands Tottenham's players and staff have been impressed by what Bale has done in training since arriving at the club from Spain.

Casemiro backs Bale to shine at Spurs

Bale is still among the world’s best players according to the Welshman’s former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro, who also dispelled a couple of myths about the winger's time in the Spanish capital.

Having fallen down the pecking order in Madrid following the deterioration of his relationship with Zinedine Zidane, Bale returned to Spurs on loan this summer.

Casemiro played alongside Bale for a number of years and denied the 31-year-old was ever a disruptive presence in the Real Madrid dressing room despite the breakdown of his relationship with the manager.

“He got along very well with everyone,” the Brazilian midfielder told Movistar Plus’ program Vamos (via Sport Witness).

“When he plays, if he’s focused, he’s one of the best in the world, top five without a doubt.

“It’s a pleasure for me to have shared the dressing room with someone like him. I hope it goes well at this stage at Tottenham.

"I thank you for the ‘chirlos’ [screamers] you scored in the finals. When I think of Gareth, I remember those good times.”
