Tottenham get transfer boost over ‘next Didier Drogba’
Lille manager Christophe Galtier has revealed that star forward Victor Osimhen will depart the club in the next transfer window.
Osimhen, 21, joined the club from Charleroi last summer and has enjoyed an excellent first season in Ligue 1. The Nigerian managed 18 goals in his debut campaign including 13 in the league.
He has been linked to several high-profile European clubs, including Tottenham.
It would seem a departure is inevitable with Galtier’s comments - as reported by the Daily Mail - confirming an imminent departure.
“Regarding Victor and Gabriel [Magalhães], yes, I’ve known for a long time that they’re leaving,” he said.
“They’re working hard with us in the meantime. We’re working on the players who are currently here and those likely to replace them. Of course, the club is working to replace him [Osimhen].”
Graeme Souness identifies trio of players Spurs should consider
Spurs were back in action on Friday and managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
Jose Mourinho’s side conceded a late penalty when Paul Pogba was adjudged to have been fouled by Eric Dier.
That saw Souness identify a trio of defenders for Spurs to consider.
“Mourinho, Solskjaer and the rest of Liverpool’s challengers will all be looking to improve at the back next season until they find a settled back five like Jurgen Klopp has at Anfield,” Souness wrote in The Times.
“In terms of potential solutions, I like Caglar Soyuncu at Leicester City very much… (he) is strong, quick and good on the ball but crucially also takes defending seriously. It’s not all about passing it out from the back and how he looks on the ball for him.
“He’s the standout signing for me this summer, the centre half they will all be after.
“I also like Leicester’s right-back, Ricardo Pereira, he’s got the right qualities for the modern game and Angelino, the left-back who’s on loan from Manchester City at RB Leipzig, has impressed me.
“The only thing Pep Guardiola can’t be completely convinced by is his defending because going forward he’s as good as anyone out there.”
Son to help Spurs beat Arsenal to South Korean defender
Spurs are favourites to sign Beijing Guoan defender Kim Min-jae.
Min-jae, 23, has been attracting interest from Arsenal and Spurs, with the latter leading the race for his signature, thanks in part to Son Heung-min.
According to The Sunday Mirror, Son’s influence is ‘likely to prove pivotal’. The pair are international teammates with South Korea and could reunite at club level.
His current club Beijing Guoan are reportedly willing to take a fee of around £13.5million.
