Tottenham evening headlines as Spurs hand trial to former Arsenal man, perfect striker signing

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Saturday, 26 September.

Napoli striker could be perfect addition for both Spurs’ and Jose Mourinho’s needs

Jose Mourinho wants another striker through the door at Tottenham before the closure of the summer transfer window, with Arkadiusz Milik previously a target.

Spurs made a statement of intent last week by adding Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon to their ranks, but the trail appears to have gone cold in the pursuit of Milik, with the Napoli striker reportedly on AC Milan’s radar.

football.london’s Tom Victor writes about how Milik would be the perfect attacking addition to address both Spurs and Mourinho’s needs.

Milan Skriniar wants Spurs move

The Polish international can play as an orthodox number nine, but is also capable of playing as one half of a front two and can even operate in a wide position.

Tottenham boss opens up on Tanguy Ndombele transformation

Mourinho has praised midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for turning his Tottenham career around, having recognised things were heading in the wrong direction.

Ndombele was something of a peripheral figure in his first season in North London after joining last summer from Lyon, but has forced his way into the Spurs starting lineup and has impressed with a number of standout displays.

“I'm very happy. I say all the time, when a player improves it’s a player’s responsibility, it’s the player’s credit, it’s not the coach who makes the miracle,” Mourinho explained.

“The player that does that by himself, to understand what he has to understand and go in the right direction that he has to go. Tanguy, step by step, is doing very well. Today, he played 90 minutes. Why?

“Also, because we have the ball, I don’t have the data numbers, but we had the ball a big percentage of the time and of course it was easier for him to be on the pitch for 90 minutes.”

Former Arsenal youngster on trial with Tottenham Hotspur

Former Arsenal youth prospect Tobi Omole is on trial at Tottenham with a view to making the switch across the North London divide.

The 20-year-old was handed a place on the bench for Spurs’ Under-23’s clash against the Gunners on Saturday at London Colney, just two months after he was released by the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Having come through the youth ranks at Arsenal, Omole could follow the precedent set by another former Gunners youngster, Jonathan Dinzeyi, who also signed for Tottenham this summer.

Omole is capable of playing in the centre of midfield, but is most useful as a versatile defender capable of operating in a number of different positions at the back.
