Tottenham evening headlines as Southampton respond to Hojbjerg bid and stadium plans revealed

Here are the Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines on Tuesday, July 21.

Spurs told to increase offer for Hojbjerg

Tottenham have been told by Southampton to increase their offer for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, or forget about signing the Danish star.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the former Bayern Munich man, but according to the Evening Standard, Everton have already submitted a second offer for the Saints midfielder.

Jose Mourinho’s side are thought to be way off with their offer of £20m, before add-ons, compared to what the Toffees have offered.

Homegrown Harry Kane is the ‘special one’ for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham

However, the same report states that Hojbjerg prefers the prospect of moving to north London rather than Merseyside, and Southampton are giving Spurs 48 hours to respond before negotiating further with Everton.

Dier’s first words after signing new Spurs deal

Tottenham midfielder Eric Dier has penned a new deal at the club and has spoken about the importance of the manager Mourinho in his decision.

Dier said to the club’s website that it feels like a new chapter in his career: “That’s the way I feel about it. I feel like that 20-year-old when I first arrived. That’s the feeling I have right now. I feel like I’m at the beginning of a new journey.

“It’s a massive thing for me to be playing in a position I want to be playing and for the manager to be here as well, those were two really important things for me in making this decision.

“There have been many obstacles this season, right from the beginning. It’s been very difficult for everyone in different ways with everything that’s happened.

"Hopefully in that final game against Crystal Palace we can get the win and be in Europe next season, start with a clean slate and try to achieve the things we want to.”

Spurs submit new ‘phase three’ stadium application

Tottenham have submitted a brand-new planning application at ‘phase three’ for their new £1.2billion stadium complex.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which officially opened last year, still has a number of extra parts that need to be approved and completed.

Spurs have turned their attention to the ‘Northumberland Terrace’, which is the third phase of the plan, which will completely change the space behind the High Road to the north west of the ground.
