Here are the Tottenham evening headlines for Tuesday, November 3.
Sissoko impresses under Mourinho
The Frenchman has started each of Spurs ’ last four Premier League games, despite increased competition for places following the recent arrivals of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso.
Sissoko has not always been a regular under Mourinho having fallen out of favour for a period last season.
But he is a reliable, if unheralded, performer in midfield and will be eager to sustain his recent form.
Pochettino gives verdict on Mourinho’s increased budget
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed the club’s increased spending power is “fantastic”.
Spurs invested in several new additions this summer, signing the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty and Carlos Vinicius, as well as Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid.
And Pochettino has backed Mourinho to succeed with extra financial backing.
“I think it’s fantastic for Tottenham,” he told Sky Sports on Monday Night Football. “Of course with the money he has now, I’m not going to say I was disappointed, and of course I wasn’t happy when you leave the club where you have a massive relationship with everyone, I’m not going to lie.
“I understand football very well. I’m not complaining about the decision of the club, of Daniel, the only thing I can do is support, because we still have a very good relationship.
“The man who replaced me is a good friend, and a manager that treated me well when I was at Espanyol and he was in Real Madrid.
“I love Tottenham, and I know Jose, so I want the best for him. We missed winning a title, that is what we missed to put the cherry on top of the cake.”
French club could move for Spurs midfielder in January
Monaco are interested in signing Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, according to the Telegraph.
The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho, making only two starts in all competitions so far this season.
His last appearance came against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League, a game in which he was hauled off at half-time.
Paul Mitchell, who was involved in the deal to bring Alli to Spurs from MK Dons, now works for Monaco, who could make a bid for the England international in January.
