Tottenham evening headlines as Rio Ferdinand proven right about Harry Kane and Rose is praised

Here are the evening headlines for Tottenham on Saturday, April 4.

Rose hailed for gesture

England international Danny Rose has been hailed for his donation of £19,000 to a North London hospital appeal. The gesture was initially anonymously before being unveiled that the left-back on loan at Newcastle was indeed the mystery donor.

Rose revealed he had chosen North Middlesex University Hospital after spending time there whilst playing for Spurs. In a recorded message, he said “just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you're doing. For the hours you're putting in and, more importantly, for putting yourself at risk to treat everybody’.

The donation comes as Premier League players have come under pressure to donate part of their wages following announcements of clubs furloughing non-playing staff.

Reacting to Health Secretary Matt Hancock's comments on BBC Radio 5 Live, Rose said "Conversations were being had before people outside of football were commenting. All that’s happened is a discussion. I just got off the phone to Jordan Henderson about 20 minutes ago and he is working so hard trying to come up with something.

Kane to represent Spurs on player wage cut call

All 20 Premier League captains will discuss the possibility of forgoing 30% of wages due to the CoronaVirus financial impact. Kane will represent Spurs players who have already been involved in various initiatives to aid during the pandemic.

The news comes as some Premier League clubs including Spurs have announced furloughing of non-playing staff. Reports have emerged that some of Kane’s captain counterparts and England teammates Jordan Henderson & Harry Maguire have attempted to organise an agreement between their own teammates.

Rio Ferdinand's Kane stance proven to be right eventually

Manchester United’s annual interest in Harry Kane has come round again albeit this time, it has been fuelled by comments made in a conversation between the England striker and former Spurs player Jamie Redknapp.

During an Instagram live Q&A, Kane said: "I'll always love Spurs, but I've always said if I don't feel like we're progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I'm not someone to stay there just for the sake of it."

Any fee for Harry Kane is rumoured to be in excess of £150million which brings back to light comments made by former England captain Rio Ferdinand after Kane’s breakthrough season.

When discussing Kane’s price tag back in 2015, Ferdinand said ‘English players are soooo overpriced right now it's a joke! Kane & Sterling have huge potential but 40m & 50m...Aguero 38m & [Alexis] Sanchez 32m!!!". This figure in hindsight looks as if it could have been an absolute steal for the Red Devils at the time.
