Here are your Spurs evening headlines for Sunday, June 14.
Spurs ‘offered Aaron Ramsey’ by Juventus
Spurs have reportedly been given the chance to sign former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Juventus in the next transfer window.
Juventus signed the Welshman on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer but the Serie A are said to be struggling financially and will look to offload Ramsey who is earning £400,000 a week in Turin.
Jose Mourinho’s Spurs are said to be one of several clubs interested in signing Ramsey if he is to become available, according to reports.
Whilst Spurs, too, are struggling with the uncertainty of finances in football, the report suggests that the club could agree a loan move for the Juventus midfielder.
Mourinho believed to be highly critical of United boss Solskjaer
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly told a number of people that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is out of his depth as manager of Manchester United.
The former Manchester United striker replaced Mourinho in December 2018 after the now Spurs manager was sacked following a poor run of results.
Mourinho will face his former side, now managed by Solskjaer, next Friday when the Premier League resumes following a 100-day lay off.
Spurs will be looking to prevent United from doing the double over them after a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford earlier this season.
For Mourinho, it will be a chance to prove his worth over the United manager who has reportedly expressed the view that he is out of his depth - according to The Athletic.
Free agent linked with move to Spurs
Spurs are believed to be interested in signing soon-to-be free agent Thiago Silva who will depart Paris St-Germain at the end of the month.
Mourinho and the club’s hierarchy will be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements in the next transfer window with multiple players linked with departures. According to Bleacher Report , the Brazilian defender has earned the interest of the North London club since the announcement that he is set to leave the French capital.
The 35-year-old is past his physical peak and it remains to be seen how much more time he has left at the highest level of European football.
Therefore, a move to Spurs may be viewed as one last chance to play in a major league with a considerable challenge.
For Spurs, the prospect of signing a defender with one or two years left presents question marks over how long-term the club’s recruitment strategy may be.
