Here are the Tottenham evening headlines for Wednesday, October 28.
Ndombele sends message to Premier League rivals
Tanguy Ndombele has warned Tottenham’s rivals of his side’s aim to compete at the top of the Premier League this season.
Spurs have started the season strongly, climbing to fifth after Monday night’s hard-fought 1-0 win at Burnley.
And Ndombele, revitalised under Jose Mourinho, has revealed Tottenham’s ambitions for the campaign .
“Our objective has always been to get into the top four,” he told Sky Sports. “More than that? Why not? But nobody wins the league in six matches.
“Even if we were top of the league at this stage there'd still be 32 matches to play.”
The team Mourinho should pick for Royal Antwerp clash
Tottenham’s busy schedule continues this week with a trip to Belgian side Royal Antwerp in the Europa League.
Spurs got off to a perfect start in Group J, easing to a 3-0 victory over LASK last time out.
Royal Antwerp could provide a sterner test given their 2-1 win over Ludogorets, so Mourinho is likely to name a strong starting XI.
Pochettino ‘in talks’ to become Zenit manager
Mauricio Pochettino is in talks with Zenit St Petersburg over the soon-to-be vacant managerial role at the Russian club, according to a report from Championat (via the Sun ).
The 48-year-old has been out of work since being dismissed by Spurs in November last year.
And Zenit have reportedly made contact with Pochettino as they look for replacement for current boss Sergei Semak, who is in the final year of his contract.
Pochettino is expected to bide his time, though, with continued speculation linking him with a future move to Real Madrid.
