Tottenham evening headlines as Oliver Skipp loan destinations assessed, Pervis Estupinan eyed

Here are the latest Tottenham Hotspur evening headlines for Sunday, August 9.

Ideal clubs Skipp could join on loan next season

The 2020/21 season could be huge for Oliver Skipp.

The young Tottenham midfielder is at a critical point in his fledgling career and is in desperate need of regular first-team football to continue his development.

It has been suggested a loan move is likely to be sanctioned this summer as Jose Mourinho plots Skipp’s next steps in football.

Southampton, Fulham, and Reading have all been linked with a move for the midfielder.

Mourinho rates Skipp highly and recently said he expects a six-month loan to be the most obvious course of action.

Now, Rob Guest has taken a look at his possible destinations and which would be the best fit.

Spurs face battle for Hornets full-back

Pervis Estupinan is drawing interest from Barcelona, Chelsea and Tottenham this summer after Watford’s relegation to the Championship, according to the Express.

Estupinan spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Spanish side Osasuna where he excelled under the guidance of Jagoba Arrasate.

The Ecuadorian first joined Watford in 2016 but has spent his entire career away from the club on loan with spells at Granada, Almeria, Mallorca, and finally Osasuna.

The Hornets were recently relegated to the Championship and are expected to lose several high-profile players as a consequence; captain Troy Deeney has also been linked with a switch to Tottenham this summer.

Winks demands big improvement next season

Harry Winks has urged his Tottenham team-mates to produce better next season.

Spurs finished sixth last term, their lowest league position since 2013/2014 under Tim Sherwood.

It was a bitter blow for a club with aspirations of regular Champions League football, and now Winks has admitted Tottenham were too inconsistent last term under Mauricio Pochettino and then Jose Mourinho.

“We need to have a better season, in our opinion, it’s been a bit up and down, a bit inconsistent,” he reflected.

“We started to find a bit of rhythm in the last few weeks and started to get a good run of results, so let’s hope we can take that into next season and get a bit of consistency, build up a bit of confidence and finish where we deserve to finish and where we believe we should be finishing, and that’s in the top four."
