Tottenham evening headlines as move for Bournemouth striker on hold, talks opened for Niang deal

Here are your Tottenham evening headlines for Monday, June 1.

Spurs could miss out on target if midfielder is not sold

Tottenham’s pursuit of Lazio’s Sergej Milikovic-Savic could rest on the club selling out-of-favour midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Serbian star Milinkovic-Savic is said to be one of Jose Mourinho’s top targets this summer, but with Paris Saint Germain also showing interest, he could be left frustrated.

According to L’Equipe via The Daily Mail, the French champions are preparing a bid of around £50 million for the in-demand midfielder.

With clubs across Europe set to cut costs, Spurs will need to move Ndombele on - despite the Frenchman only moving to north London from Lyon last summer - in order to free up funds for Milinkovic-Savic.

Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring the Lazio man.

Potential Josh King move dependant on Bournemouth bid for replacement

Bournemouth striker Josh King has emerged as a target for Tottenham, with the club eyeing the striker as an alternative to Harry Kane.

Norway international King has one year left on his contract and could leave the Vitality Stadium this summer.

Eddie Howe is desperate to bring in a replacement first however, and King’s departure will depend on whether the Cherries can secure Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell according to Football Insider.

King was reportedly close to joining Manchester United in the January window, and with other clubs said to be interested in his services, there could be a scramble for his signature.

Spurs ‘open talks’ over move for Rennes striker

Tottenham’s need for a striker has seen them head to France and a rumoured approach for Rennes hitman Mbaye Niang.

L’Equipe via Teamtalk say that Spurs have made contact with the player’s representatives and could activate his £26 million release clause.

Sengalese international Niang has also been linked with Ligue Un sides Lyon, Monaco and Marseille but these clubs may not be willing to meet the asking price.

However, the report says a potential sticking point could come through a lack of game time, with Niang reluctant to move to north London to play second fiddle to Kane.
