Tottenham evening headlines as Mourinho 'uncomfortable' with Bale situation, Danny Rose returns

Here are your Tottenham Hotspur headlines for the evening of Friday, November 6.

Mourinho “uncomfortable” with Gareth Bale working with Arsenal coach

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has said he’s “uncomfortable” at the prospect of Gareth Bale working with Arsenal assistant Albert Stuivenberg over the coming fortnight.

The Dutchman, who is assistant to Mikel Arteta, also serves as one of Ryan Giggs’ right-hand men for the Wales national team.

Bale, who is fit again and scored the match-winner for Spurs against Brighton last week, has received the call-up for his country for the first time since rejoining his old club on loan from Real Madrid.

"It's not Giggs responsible for these matches and I'm sorry about it, because for the previous fixtures he called me, we spoke about Ben Davies – not Gareth because Gareth was not there – and we shared opinions on the situation, which is probably not going to happen this time,” Mourinho said.

"The fact that one of the coaches is an Arsenal coach does not make me very comfortable. Honestly, it doesn't make me very comfortable.

"National team matches should have coaches that work exclusively for them, not coaches who work for other clubs."

Danny Rose back in a Tottenham shirt

Spurs left-back Danny Rose has been given a run-out for the club’s Under-23s, having fallen out of favour for Mourinho’s first-team.

The 30-year-old England international, who has made over 200 appearances for the club, hasn’t been registered in either the Premier League or Europa League squads by Tottenham as he sees out the final year of his contract.

He’s been named in a side alongside the likes of Jack Clarke, Harvey White and Dennis Cirkin as the youth side take on Derby County’s Under-23s in a Premier League 2 clash.

Featuring in central midfield rather than his natural role at left-back, as he did against Real Madrid back in 2017, Rose adds considerable experience for Wayne Burnett’s Under-23s.

Spurs not title contenders says Liverpool legend

Jamie Carragher believes that the Premier League title race is still between his former side Liverpool and Manchester City.

The two sides have been far ahead of the rest of the chasing pack for the past two seasons, and the 42-year-old Sky Sports pundit believes that will remain the case this season, saying so on the Pitch to Post podcast (via The Independent ).

There has been increasing talk of Spurs’ title credentials after their recent run of form, in which they’ve taken 14 points from the last 18 available, alongside the injury suffered to key Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and the slow start made by Pep Guardiola’s side.

“I still can’t envisage anyone besides Liverpool or Man City winning the league. I just can’t see that,” Carragher said.

“I know Tottenham have started really well and I hope they have a great season and there are more challengers, but I just can’t see anybody else lifting that league title besides the big two of the last few years.”
